  Did your congregation have "Talent" Shows?

  i saw this video on youtube and didnt know if i should laugh or crawl into the fetal position.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abm0t-qhllc&feature=related.

  we had several "talent" shows over the years in my original congregation - it was the only annual gathering more nauseating that the meetings.. my friend and i would always bring our walkmans and blare heavy metal in the back - hoping to block out the embarassing crap on the stage.you always had a few older ones get up on stage and slaughter a kingdumb song.

  Japanese Sumo Wrestling, Good Or Bad?

  i hate to be a sports critic but nevertheless, i find this kind of wrestling as going far on the top.

  i have great respect for other country's culture but the question is: how far should we tolerant extremist sport that glorify pain and suffering as a price of achievement?

  what is your reactions?

  For the Japanese JW, sumo is bad because it is linked with the Shinto religion and the rituals/priests that pervades almost every aspect of it.

  P.S. As for me personally, I really don't care for sumo. A few minutes may entertain me and I would be satisfied with that.

  This always throws the brothers (BOE) for a loop in my congregation on how I always know the new releases even before the first district convention starts. In this case, two weeks from now.

  My Dad Died Today

  he has been ill for some time, but it was still unexpected.

  he was never a jw and i didn't really have a close relationship with him, since he remarried after my parents divorced.

  i reunited with him in the mid 90's after over 10 years of not seeing him.. .

  RANDY WATTER'S DAD JUST DIED

  randy watters, owner of freeminds.org father just died a couple of hours ago from pneumonia and alzheimers.

  he was 86 years old.

  as randy has been tireless in his efforts to help countless people come out of the wts, i would like to express my sincere condolences to him at this time.. .

  when addressing the first-century christian congregation in ephesus, jesus spoke of the love you had at first.

  the ephesians had many good qualities, yet the love they once manifested for jehovah had waned.

  hence, jesus told them: i know your deeds, and your labor and endurance, and that you cannot bear bad men, and that you put those to the test who say they are apostles .

  Note that the Scripture in Revelation says "left" the love you had at first.

  "Left" = Deliberate action by choice [i.e. The postman left the package at my doorstep OR I left music to study law]

  But also note that the last sentence in the Daily Text says "lose" the love you had at first.

  "Lose" = Fail inadvertently to attain, thus not by choice. [i.e. I just lost my dime under this sofa OR to lose one's job]

  Apparently the WTS tried to squeeze both definitions as being the same, when in actuality it throws an entirely different meaning on the explanation.

  Asia's zone visit will be held in Japan (Ebina Bethel) during the first week in May. There are some missionaires assigned within the zone that will fly in in order to attend. And in case you want to know, their airfare is paid for by the Society.
